The SEK Educational System is based on knowledge acquisition through the exploration of concepts, research and the development of competencies that encourage critical thought and creativity.

SEKstudents learn strategies that will permit them, throughout their lives, to be autonomous, self-assured and able to learn independently.

The demands of our educational system and a rigorous evaluation for improvement system mean that we can guarantee the best performance possible from our students and their admission into the most prestigious national and international universities.

A balanced education that especially values sports, the development of technological competencies and those related to social and emotional intelligence, community service and artistic expression.

  • In Nursery and Preschool we implement linguistic immersion with an entire programme in English (with one hour per day in Spanish).
  • Our primary program offers 50% learning time in English and 50% in Spanish starting from second grade. Our first grade academic program is taught all in English except for six hours of Spanish modules a week.
  • In Secondary Education 50% of subjects are taught through the medium of English.
  • For the Baccalaureate, our students can opt for doing the Diploma Programme in English, or the National Baccalaureate with subjects in English from the Diploma Programme. Starting from the 5th year of Primary Education the study of a third language is added: French or German.

The SEK Group, a pioneer (1977) in the implementation in Spain of the International Baccalaureate Organisation® (IB) programmes, integrates their curricular framework in order to enhance the national curriculum in the form of a continuum from the ages of 3 up to 18 years of age.

The IB® Diploma enjoys great academic prestige and provides a means of access to the most prestigious universities in the world.

Special importance is given to the development of emotional intelligence abilities and they are integrated into the curriculum. We work on the basis of the PYP curricular framework in the “Creative resolution of conflicts”. Our teachers have been trained by the education expert Linda Lantieri (CASEL-Daniel Goleman Institute).

We personalise learning using the Intelligent Classroom methodology, and that of the University Baccalaureate. In both cases, the use of technology for learning and cooperative learning is encouraged.

All of this helps students to adapt to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) system that they will meet at university. The University Baccalaureate is supported methodologically by the idea of the Flipped Classroom, that promotes the acquisition of information outside of classroom hours – with the support of technology – and the discussion, deepening and building of knowledge in the classroom. Students take responsibility for their own learning.

SEK – Ciudalcampo offers a wide range of complementary activities whose aim is to develop the personality, characteristics and interests of each and every student individually.
