Óscar Fuertes Jr., a student at SEK International School Ciudalcampo, has taken a new step in his sporting career by joining Hyundai Spain’s young driver programme, a training structure promoted by the Korean brand to support the development of new talent in Spanish motorsport.
At just 14 years old, the Madrid-born driver becomes the youngest member of Hyundai Spain’s talent pool. His incorporation comes after an outstanding 2025 season, in which he was crowned Spanish Junior Autocross Champion and European runner-up in his first year competing internationally.
Fuertes Jr. began his sporting career in Autocross, where he has made rapid progress. His performance on the track caught the attention of Hyundai Spain’s sporting directors, who began following the young driver in the middle of last year.
Joining this programme marks the beginning of a new stage for the SEK-Ciudalcampo student, aimed at preparing his move into rallying as part of the training process designed by Hyundai Spain. The brand, which has won two titles in the Spanish Super Rally Championship (S-CER), thus reinforces its commitment to the next generation of motorsport talent.
Eugene Sullivan, Head of Competition at Hyundai Spain, explained the focus of the project and the brand’s interest in supporting young drivers in the early stages of their sporting careers. “We want to look a little further ahead, at very young drivers who are still minors, and see how they develop. In this respect, we have noticed one who shows real promise, and that is Óscar Fuertes Jr.,” he said.
Óscar Fuertes Jr. himself has welcomed this opportunity with excitement and a sense of responsibility. “A new stage is beginning, which I face with great enthusiasm. Being part of a brand with so much history and commitment in the world of motorsport is an incredible opportunity and a great responsibility,” he said. The young driver added that he is looking forward to “competing, continuing to grow as a driver and giving everything while representing Hyundai Spain, with maximum commitment both inside and outside the car”.
