The SEK-Ciudalcampo H2O Saving project, represented by the students Sira Fernández and Marta Domínguez, won the Diamond Challenge entrepreneurship competition in its national phase. Their project, designed to reduce water consumption more efficiently and responsibly, will represent Spain in the world final to be held in Delaware (United States) next April.
The solution that this group of students presented is able to detect small losses of water in the water pipes in homes and buildings and send an alert to the building managers or the residents association so they are able to repair it as soon as possible and thereby avert water wastage and higher water bills.
All the projects were designed using Design Thinking methodology, with the aim of offering students opportunities to learn about entrepreneurship while putting their ideas into practice. The programme focuses on freeing up creativity, fostering an international mentality and getting students to realise the ideas they design in the classroom.
